Matt Hasselbeck Sucks

I have tried to remain positive about Matt Hasselbeck this year, even arguing with people who have criticized him, but after seeing him play what has to have been the worst game of his career today, I can't stand behind him anymore. Today's game can't be described as anything better than an embarrassment. The line gave him great protection most of the game, and all he did with all the time they gave him was throw the ball away, miss open receivers, throw into coverage, or just dance around looking like Rick Mirer until he got sacked.

Combine that with the pitiful effort by Shaun Alexander, and nearly every drive ended with a 3 and out. The defense was pretty solid for most of the game, but they can only be on the field for so long before they tire out. I don't know the actual stats, and I don't think I want to know, but I would estimate that the D was on the field for approximately 90 minutes.

I think it is now time to sit Hasselbeck out and let Seneca Wallace get some starts. I think we're stuck with Alexander though. Even with Alexander running like a pansy, he's still a step up from Morris. We really need to get a bruising running back who will just put his head down and plow for the tough yards. Alexander is great at cutting back and finding holes, but on days like today when there isn't anywhere to cut back, he really needs to just put his head down and take what he can get. I can't stand to see him lay down in the backfield anymore.

I really can't pin this loss on Hasselbeck, the guy may have had time but the Steelers DB's had everyone covered. In fact, the WRs did such a shite job of getting any kind of seperation that Hasselbeck had to check down to Alexander a couple of times - that rarely ever happens. The Seattle WRs didn't show up to play and that led to Hasselbeck having to force some balls just to try and get something started.

Alexander is a puss. I've never seen a runner that big get arm tackled as easily as he does. He's the most undeserving MVP in league history and the NFL should snatch the trophy back from him due to his crapass running this year.

I beg to differ. I hang this loss entirely on Hasselbeck. That was one of the worst QB efforts I've seen by anyone not named Rex. I saw him miss open receivers, not find open receivers despite having all day, and making bad decisions all game long. The only reason he didn't throw 3 or 4 picks is that the Pittsburgh DB's apparently have hands of stone.

I'm still convinced it is mostly the fault of the crappy run blocking. Alexander does concern me a bit because of his apparent lack of effort, but he almost never even got to the line of scrimmage without getting hit.

I don't think it was Hassebeck that beat us because he didn't turn the ball over as much as other quarterbacks would have. I did notice Burleson jogging around instead of getting open when Hassle was running for his life. I think the Steelers were just sitting back in pass coverage because they only need about 2 guys to play run D.

As far as Alexander's MVP season, I think anytime you get that close to 2,000 yards, it's mostly O-line. It appears Hutchinson was more valuable than Alexander to me.

Fast forward to November, 16 2008 and again on November 23, 2008. Both games end synonmously; Matty Hassy running around like the back-up QB from Neseccary Roughness then throwing a game ending pick on the very first offensive play after the defense makes a stance to give the Hawks a chance to win. I'm sick of this unenlightened rebub'... fuck em'! He has been making shitty descions for years now! I held my tounge when they were winning, although I still wanted to scream at the TV like Chong's father in Up In Smoke. He makes poor deciscions, period! All you have to do is watch a good quarter back, like Farve, play the game to know the definition of "good QB" and Hassy is NOT! Even when he had the protection from years back, he would still throw into coverage, or flail the ball in the air in the midst of being sacked! I'm sick of it! 2 and 14 and a QB draft pick. He is threw!

Matt Hasselbeck always has sucked. He was only able to do well for a few season because of the offensive line. Look at the Chiefs throughout the 90's. They had the best offensive line. no matter who was QB they always threw up awesome stats, along with any RB they had. When their QBs and RBs left to other teams, they didn't do so well.
